Post-Brexit immigration rules
  • The Brexit transition period ended at 11.00pm on 31 December 2020 with a deal having been reached between the UK and the EU on a UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement. That deal now governs the UK-EU relationship from 1 January 2021.
  • Any EU, EEA and Swiss nationals who were in the UK by 11.00pm on 31 December 2020 have their resident status protected and, if they have not already done so, they must apply for settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme by no later than 30 June 2021.
